CREATE A COSY CHRISTMAS T’IS SEASON

CREATE A COSY CHRISTMAS T’IS SEASON

With Christmas just around the corner, now is the time to deck the halls with boughs of holly and make your home look and feel welcoming and full of festive cheer.

Decorating your home at Christmas is a great way to allow your personality to shine through and will demonstrate what your own personal Christmas is going to be about.

Whether you’re looking forward to a relaxing break or entertaining friends and family this season, now is the time to start planning the right look. To help you make the most of your home this Christmas, home improvement experts, Anglian Home Improvements, has provided some festive inspiration:

Light it up. Fairy lights are not just for your Christmas tree. You can use this lighting to give the different rooms of your home, such as your conservatory or living room, a Christmas twinkle. Create a beautiful contrast with the wintry world outside by festooning festive white fairy lights around your home.  For a simple, chic touch, bunch together some fairy lights in a vase, or wrap them around a picture frame or mirror.

Dec’ the halls. Tree decorations are not just for trees. From beams and arches to windows alcoves and door handles, you can hang them on almost any area of your home to make a real statement piece – you just have to think outside the tree!

Dazzling dinner.  Make your dining table a focus of your decorating scheme – after all food is one of the most important elements of everyone’s Christmas. For an elegant look, choose rich colours with glittering silverware complimented with candles to add a soft, flickering glow. Not forgetting the finishing touches – add festive themed napkin rings and personalised place settings to make family dining occasions extra-special.

Banish the blues. Make the most of winter daylight, and ensure your windows are sparkling clean inside and out at all times this festive season. Scrub the window frames and glass panes with soapy warm water and remove any remaining water with a dry cloth, then sit back and show off your dazzling displays!

That’s a wrap! Beautifully wrapped Christmas gifts are decorations in their own right – piles of colourful presents under the tree can be alluring works of art. Plan your wrapping to complement your home’s decorating Christmas colour scheme. Choose one or two fabulous festive tones and have fun with bows, ribbons and labels.

Melanie McDonald, Head of PR and Internal Communications for Anglian Home Improvements, said: “Christmas is the most magical time of year; and with friends and families coming together for the festivities, there is a focus on creating a warm and inviting home.  Utilising all areas of the home including conservatories, orangeries and living and dining rooms will enable homeowners to maximise their space, creating the perfect environment for loved ones to enjoy.

“What’s more, being cosy in the comfort of your own home is essential over the celebratory period. Giving your home the festive touch with beautifully designed decorations will make your feel relaxed and revived – that’s until the madness commences on Christmas day!”
