Benoy Announces New Marks & Spencer Store Opening

Benoy, the international firm of Architects, Masterplanners, Interior and Graphic Designers, is delighted to announce the opening of an exciting new Marks & Spencer in the Vangarde Shopping Park in York.
Benoy was responsible for the internal architecture of this 12,000m2, two storey unit which comprises the very latest initiatives currently being rolled out by Marks & Spencer. The new store also incorporates a number of sustainability ‘Plan A’ features, such as solar PV on the roof, displacement ventilation, green walls to the south and west elevations and rainwater harvesting. The store is targeting a BREEAM rating of Excellent and an EPC ‘A’ rating.
Benoy Senior Associate Director and Project Leader David Swarbrick said he is ‘particularly pleased with the quality of this project as it is a truly enhanced store with sustainability and environmental responsibility at its core; it was also completed in record time.’

This unit will be the largest Marks & Spencer Department Store in the region and an anchor of the Vangarde Shopping Park.
Benoy has a long-running relationship with Marks & Spencer and has been responsible for some of their most significant stores, including their first major development in China
