BRE Academy collaborates with Alpin to deliver BIM training in the Middle East

The BRE Academy, the leading provider of training for the built environment is pleased to announce a new collaboration with global sustainable built-asset consultancy Alpin.

Part of the BRE Group with a heritage of conducting world leading science-based research for over 90 years, the BRE Academy applies this knowledge in the development of training programmes which meet the demands of the modern built environment. Training programmes are developed by world-renowned specialists who have shaped industry standards.

As a host partner of the BRE Academy, Alpin Ltd will enable BIM training courses to be delivered on Building Information Modelling (BIM) throughout the Middle East. In response to strong demand from developers and the Government, the courses will initially be offered in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, UAE and in Doha, Qatar.

Commenting on the partnership, Pauline Traetto, Director of the BRE Academy said ‘We are delighted to be working with Alpin in the Middle East to deliver our BIM programme. The BRE Academy has a significant international outreach – we pride ourselves on being able to adapt our content to meet specific local market requirements.  I look forward to hearing how a BIM approach has benefitted companies in the region.’

Many organisations are looking to develop their people’s skills to meet the requirements of BIM, which will become mandatory on all large scale publicly procured projects in the UK by 2016. The BIM approach focuses on the importance of collaborative working processes.  Utilising information-rich models, BIM will improve the quality of information throughout the lifecycle of a project resulting in improved communication and understanding, an elimination of waste and ultimately cost-savings for both contractors and owners.

Jourdan Younis, Alpin’s Managaing Director said ‘There is increased interest in BIM shown mainly by government clients in the region. Several now mandate the use of BIM on their projects. The BRE courses will help to clarify BIM implementation, simplify the process and most importantly explain the UK BIM standards which cover important concepts that clients and the supply chain should know in order to achieve success.’

Alpin will deliver the Academy’s BIM International foundation course covering topics including: What BIM is; Where BIM has been successfully adopted and used internationally; Information management and project life cycles. Delegates will receive information on relevant standards, methods and procedures to help them implement to BIM Level 2.

Muhammad Jabakhanji, Alpin’s Head of Virtual Design and Construction + BIM ‘BRE’s international BIM courses set a strong foundation for those interested in understanding how to adopt best practice. This is a course that should be attended by developers, consultants and contractors alike.’
