Reynaers gives Burnedge Barn the edge with sleek profiles

Situated on the edge of open countryside with stunning panoramic views, this stone-built farmhouse uses a number of innovative products from leading aluminium systems supplier of sustainable aluminium solutions Reynaers.

Thanks to a variety of aluminium window and doors, large expanses of glazing streamline the transition from interior to exterior spaces of Burnedge Barn, offering a feeling of freedom and a connection to the farmland in Grasscroft, Oldham.

Exceptionally narrow frames and superior performance characterise Slimline 68, the window system launched just last year.

The outward opening window has been designed specifically to meet the needs of UK homeowners, allowing them to choose a product that gives them maximum daylight access whilst keeping their properties warm and secure.

With no compromise on thermal efficiency or weather resistance, the system is designed to be timeless whilst complementing both contemporary and – as in the case of Burnedge Barn – the most traditional style homes.

SL 68 can achieve a Window Energy Rating of A++ and a U-value of 1.0 W/m2K with triple glazing. When it comes to double glazing, the Window Energy Rating is A, with a U-value of 1.4 W/m2K.

Rebecca Cope, Marketing Manager at Reynaers, said: “This level of market-leading performance brings extra value to fabricators and installers, offering a strong selling point. What’s more, SL 68’s security meets PAS24 and Secured by Design standards, as well as achieving Class 4 air tightness.

“The strength of the aluminium frame and the clever design make it possible to create windows with large panes of glass. Ease of maintenance and durability make it the perfect window for fabricators, installers and homeowners too.”

The window has a wind-resistance rating of E2400, and water-resistance of E1050. As the name suggests, SL 68 has a frame depth of 68mm, and can carry a maximum glass thickness of 43mm.

The CS 77 French Style door and the CF 68 bifold door were also used on the project to help bring the outside in.

Answering the needs of contemporary architecture, the Concept Folding 68 aluminium sliding folding door combines design, comfort and space efficiency. The wide range of possibilities to unfold numerous glass panes makes the borders between the interior and exterior dissappear.

A relatively low number of profiles offer a maximum number of configurations – all offering inward and outward opening options with the same profiles and accessories. The vent profile requires only one gasket type, and no brush or supporting profile brush is required. In additon only one integrated carriage type and one hinge type to fold the vents are required for all configurations.

With the installation of most other bifold systems, it is mostly recommended that the last vent only be measured and fabricated after all the others have been installed. This design features an innovative adjustable side profile, which makes it possible to install the complete folding wall onsite. It also allows tolerances to be easily adjusted, to deliver optimal performance in air and water tightness.

The bifolding door is available in every colour and finish and there is the possibility of having a different colour for the interior and the exterior, to perfectly match the building.

Depending on the profile combination, the insulation value (Uf) for the system can reach as low as 1.8 W/m²K. Glass thicknesses between 12mm and 55mm can be accommodated, as can triple glazing. The CF 68 system is a versatile folding door and window solution that allows up to seven leafs to fold in 38 possible configurations and across four different threshold solutions. As well as offering a standard window hardware solution, CF 68 can also feature a main door principle, in which the first leaf is used as an entrance door without affecting the other folding leafs. This entrance door is equipped with a handle on both sides, so it can be accessed from the outside.

Meanwhile, Reynaers’ CS 77 has been awarded the coveted Swiss Minergie component label and is a thermally-broken, multi-chambered system for windows and doors that offers excellent levels of security, weather resistance and thermal insulation. It offers a comprehensive range of inward- and outward-opening window and door designs that are available in a range of three different styles, making it ideal for both traditional and contemporary building designs.

To ensure the tightness of the door, specially designed insulation strips are used to ensure the stability of the profile and to avoid potential distortion that could be caused by temperature difference between the inside and outside of the house.
