National Homebuilder Keepmoat Homes Announces Purchase of Land in Cheddar

Plans to redevelop a brownfield site in Cheddar into a new housing development are officially underway, following the purchase of land at Steart Farm.

The Steart Farm housing development, which has recently been granted outlining planning permission, will look to bring 58 new homes to the Somerset area, 30% of which will be affordable housing.

Known for delivering quality homes, partnership housebuilder Keepmoat Homes will transform the 5.8-acre brownfield site, which currently comprises former farm buildings and agricultural land, into a housing community which will feature a local play area, wildlife zone and public open space.

Well located to local transport links, Cheddar lies 10 miles south-east of J21 of the M5 motorway and 11 miles south of Bristol Airport via the A371 and A38.

Charlotte Goode, Regional Managing Director at Keepmoat Homes said: “Keepmoat Homes is incredibly pleased to have purchased land to transform Steart Farm into a high-quality housing development with a strong sense of community, fitting for the village of Cheddar.

“We are constantly striving to bring excellent houses to brilliant locations, and know that the Steart Farm development will do just that.

“As a leading UK home builder, we’re continually looking to expand our development range, helping to bring new purchase opportunities to buyers across the region, and welcome news regarding land available for purchase in the West Midland and South West area.”

A Reserved Matters planning application will be submitted later this year with a start on site planned for late 2022 with homes available mid-2023.
