Challenge traditional design concepts with Hex by Abode

If the latest trends tell us anything, then the desire for industrial style design continues to rise having grown in notoriety over the last three decades. Able to adopt both traditional and contemporary design ideas, industrial home interiors have taken their cue from the surge in urban brownfield sites being redeveloped into new homes and green spaces. In its raw state, an industrial-style décor almost evokes an unfinished look, commanding a range of mixed materials, architectural features, and rival design styles in one space.

Now an established trend, the kitchen remains the strongest supporter of industrial-style design as UK homeowners continue to seek out darker colour palettes, raw materials and statement hardware that introduce new levels of functionality. In fact, Pinterest research on 850K searches found ‘industrial’ to be one of the top three search terms last year, and as home renovation spend is up 36% according to the latest Houzz survey, it makes sense to cater to the needs of the marketplace.

Our industrial-style Hex range will challenge traditional design concepts, presenting a precision-engineered tap collection with mid-century modern solid brass construction, distinct colourways, and deliberate use of texture. Designed to coordinate seamlessly with any style of kitchen featuring industrial or traditional elements, Hex will help to define the wash zone and bring new levels of form and function to the UK kitchen and utility room.

Part of Distinctly by Abode and made of premium quality solid brass, the Hex range features a series of hexagonal design components and knurled collar detail on the tip of the spout on pull out models. Available in five designs – Single Lever, Single Lever Pull-out, Monobloc, Professional and the newly launched Bridge style – each model in the collection allows you to interpret the industrial-look the way you want, thanks to the different designs and original Hex colours available: Brushed Nickel and Antique Brass, and two fusion finishes – Brushed Nickel & Matt Black and Antique Brass & Matt Black.

Placing huge emphasis on the finer details, the Hex fusion finishes really bring home the look and feel of an industrial style kitchen as the accent colour helps depict the spout, handles, collar and base plinth across the Single Lever, Monobloc, and Pull-out Hex designs. This is a great opportunity for designers to coordinate core elements such as the kitchen tap with other components in the room like the sink, furniture hardware, appliances, and light fittings to coordinate with today’s kitchen.

Each model in the Hex range is defined by a slender profile and quad style spout with the option of either single or dual lever control. All Hex handles are designed with industrial styled hot and cold lettering, with the Hex Single Lever Pull-out offering the addition of a retractable hose for extra functionality when prepping food or rinsing extra-large pots and pans.

Hex Professional is the ideal solution in a hardworking kitchen or utility room, typically exposed to a higher foot traffic and need to cater to multiple disciplines and users. Designed with a practical pull-around hose with spray feature and mechanical arm for added flexibility, Hex Professional is finished in Black Nickel & Matt Black to further accentuate the luxe appeal synonymous with industry style kitchen schemes.

Available with 5 years warranty, Hex taps are further enhanced by the designed-in ceramic disc valve technology for ultra-smooth flow and optimum temperature control, as well as the energy efficient cold start valve, which offers big hot water savings by only delivering cold water when the tap is operated from the mid-lever position.

When looking at the sink market, larger single bowl and Belfast-style options remain the most popular as they provide plenty of space to soak, rinse and wash cumbersome pots and pans in a variety of materials like classic ceramic, composite granite and stainless steel. To respond to this growing trend, we are pleased to announce a brand-new addition to our award-winning Hex collection with the launch of Hex Bridge this June. The perfect companion for schemes with larger kitchen sinks, Hex Bridge offers the very best elements of the Hex range like the original knurled spout collar through to the iconic hexagonal handles. It also benefits from our smooth, retractable pull-out technology to further impress its industrial design and bring a contemporary edge to a traditional bridge mixer.
