The SiOO:X Wood Protection System is different; it is not a coating, but an envelope that penetrates the wood surface. The protection system has two components; the first penetrates the wood where it reacts with atmospheric carbon dioxide to gradually form an inert glassy polymer. The second component acts to seal and protect the first application until it is fully cured, but it also forms an inert water resistant envelope which creates a grey surface appearance. The silicon-oxygen chemical bonds (the same as in glass) in the cured polymer are stable to ultraviolet light. Just as important, the wood now has an even weathered appearance once the protection system cures. This means that the unsightly patchy weathering of exterior wood cladding is no longer a problem. SiOO:X Wood Protection locks in the beauty of wood. Find out more at www.sioox.org.uk.
