This September, acclaimed Polish architect, artist and designer Oskar Zieta brings two interconnected installations to the London Design Festival 2025 as part of the UK/Poland Creative Season: the landmark urban sculpture ‘Whispers’ in the Fleet Street Quarter, and its evolving counterpart ‘Echoes of Whispers’ at New London Architecture (NLA).

Oskar Zieta, founder of Zieta Studio, is internationally recognised for his pioneering FiDU technology process which transforms flat steel sheets into three-dimensional, lightweight structures through internal air pressure. His work spans design, engineering and art, challenging perceptions of what metal can do.

Located in the heart of the Fleet Street Quarter, public artwork ‘Whispers’ is both sculpture and mirror: reflecting its historic surroundings it symbolises the area’s transformation from a district of print to a hub of innovation. Marking the launch of the London Festival of Architecture 2025 the theme of which was Voice, the piece embodies the dialogue between audience, artist and environment.

Meanwhile, ‘Echoes of Whispers’ at NLA reveals the dual nature of Zieta’s technique, controlled yet unpredictable. Each smaller ‘echo’ demonstrates how even the slightest shift in pressure or placement can radically change form, visualising Zieta’s belief that metal has its own voice. Zieta works across disciplines to explore the intersections of form, material and technology combining design, engineering and art to produce objects that test the limits of metal as a material.

These two projects form part of the UK/Poland Season 2025 organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, the Polish Cultural Institute in London, Let’s Art Foundation, and On&On Design. The public task was financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland within the grant competition ‘Public Diplomacy 2024 – 2025 – the European dimension and countering disinformation’.

The season presents a diverse programme of over 100 multi-artform events in 40 cities in both countries, a cultural bridge invigorating the UK and Poland cultural dialogue to create opportunities for the next generation of creators.
