Futures Lab, established in 2023 by design studio ForEveryday.Life (FEL), is an innovation platform dedicated to exploring, envisioning, and advocating for brighter more resilient futures. In support of the 2026 theme “Regenerative Rebuilding,” FEL has announced a new partnership with The Ramboll Foundation alongside ongoing, long-term support from the Swiss not-for-profit Fondation USM.
The partnership represents a significant step forward for the Futures Lab initiative. With support from both Foundations in 2026, Futures Lab aims to redefine how rebuilding is approached amid growing climate, social, and economic disruptions. At the heart of the partnership is a shared question: When we rebuild after crisis, can we create systems and solutions that are stronger, more adaptive and more beneficial than before?
Colin Macgadie, Founding Director of FEL and Chair of the Futures Lab, comments “Across the world, communities are increasingly facing overlapping crises – from climate-induced disasters to conflict and economic instability. Traditional models of rebuilding, focused on restoring what was lost, are no longer sufficient, and that is really why we have started the Futures Lab innovation programme.”
Asbjørn Kristensen Høgsbro, Head of Philanthropy at The Ramboll Foundation, comments “Central to this initiative is a “future world” framework, which challenges traditional thinking and explores how societies could function if regeneration, rather than extraction, became the guiding principle, and this is an approach that we highly stand by at The Ramboll Foundation. Through this collaboration, Ramboll employees and partners worldwide will have opportunities to contribute expertise, projects, and insights to the Futures Lab’s innovation programme. While rebuilding post-conflict has emerged as a key focus for the initiative, the programme will also address regions affected by, flooding, wildfires, heatwaves, and extreme climate events.”
By combining design innovation with engineering and consultancy expertise, Futures Lab and The Ramboll Foundation aim to explore more regenerative and resilient approaches to rebuilding communities.
