~ Celebrating the success of CP Automation and Euroserv ~
Owner of supply and repair specialist CP Automation and Euroserv, Tony Young, discusses the growth of both businesses over the past decade.
About the company
Originally operating under the name CP Group, the CP Automation team of mechanical engineers were quick to outgrow the small facility we had previously occupied in Hull. To meet growing customer demand and house the expanding team, we decided to up sticks and move operations to our existing facility in Scunthorpe. Today, CP Automation has three UK offices in the West Midlands, the North East and of course, the Scunthorpe base in the East Midlands.
Witnessing growth
Since founding CP Automation in 2003, I have witnessed a tremendous pace of growth in the organisation. In 2006, customer demand for the supply and repair of specialist motors meant we had the opportunity to open an entirely new business and sister company to CP Automation. The new company, Euroserv, handles motor repair and sale, notably for AC and DC servomotors, while also dealing with associated products such as inverters, resistors and encoders.
Complementing CP Automation’s in-depth understanding of electronic boards, PLCs and drives, Euroserv is a source of specialist mechanical expertise. CP Automation’s established client relationships with the likes of Nissan, Rolls Royce and Siemens were part of the reason why the launch of Euroserv was exceptionally successful.
Online catalogue and offline expertise
Crucially, the CP Automation website provides customers with detailed information about the productions we integrate, with downloadable specification sheets for each product. However, we do not just supply products but repair and maintain them too, so phone consultations, direct meetings and site visits are still an important part of our daily routines.
Specialising in repair and field service for industrial electronic boards, PLCs, drives, resistors and inverters, we are able to provide fast and exceptional service for our customers. Our collaboration with the likes of Rockwell Automation, Cressall Resistors and Siemens has also allowed us to work on a huge variety of industrial applications, from heavy industries to process, transport and construction.
Customer driven
Prioritising the needs of our customers is the main driver for our growth over the past decade. Where we are concerned, customers always come first.
Unlike some of our competitors, we offer a complete training service for customers. Our experienced industry engineers can provide both in-house and on-site courses for the installation, operation and maintenance of the majority of the products we supply.
Much to the delight of our long-term customers, we have made a conscious effort to continue to broaden the scope of both our products and our services. Ultimately, it has been customer loyalty and industry expertise that have lead to CP Automation and Euroserv’s combined turnover of 2.7 million in 2015.
There is no average day
As managing director of both companies, I cannot deny I have spent many days ‘chained’ to my desk, working my way through paperwork. However, for the most part, no two days at CP Automation are the same. Opportunities to meet with customers, suppliers and partners on a regular basis mean that my role is incredibly varied, social and above all, interesting.
It is difficult to pinpoint the exact leadership style we have at CP Automation and Euroserv. That being said, I wholeheartedly believe paying close attention to detail is key to success. There is no doubt our customers value the quick quotations and to-the-point attitude both myself and the workforce follow.
Looking to the future
The growth of both CP Automation and Euroserv has been entirely organic. In our industry, there is no time to pause for a breath and as such, we plan to continue to learn, train and expand to provide our customers with the high standards they are used to.
