Celebration of timber in design and construction. WoodFest comes to Cardiff @Wood_for_Good @TRADA_ @WKWales @thettfregions

WoodFest Cardiff is coming to Wales to celebrate how the country is using wood in design and construction.

Taking place between February and May and featuring a variety of events, WoodFest Cardiff will focus on low carbon housing, connecting communities, local timber and healthy building products. It is organised by the UK timber industry’s campaign, Wood for Good, in collaboration with The Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA), Woodknowledge Wales, Western Timber Trade Association (WTTA) and many more.

Construction Expo returns to Sussex @ConstructExpo

The South East’s leading construction industry exhibition, the innovative South East Construction Expo, will be returning to Sussex in April 2020.

The event, being held at the South of England Event Centre, Ardingly, on 28 April 2020, will welcome speakers from across the industry, including Malcolm Clarke, Managing Director at Baxall Construction; Cedric Laurier, Chief Technical Officer at Gatwick Airport; and Julia Gregory, Director of Projects at Ebbsfleet Development Corporation.

Free workshop will help to make new-build houses safer by design @RoSPA

With about 6,000 accidental deaths occurring in British homes every year, a new free workshop from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) aims to help house builders and architects ensure their projects are safer for all residents.


RoSPA has developed guidance, titled Safer by design, to help those involved in the planning and development of new-build projects ensure they are preventing the most common accidents in their homes, with a particular focus on falls – at least 700 people die as a result of falling on domestic stairs every year. RoSPA’s Safer by Design framework has been endorsed by Public Health England.
