Closomat, originator of shower toilets in the UK, has launched an online configurator tool on its website, for Britain’s #1-selling wash dry WC, the Closomat Palma Vita. The Palma Vita tool follows from the piloting of a similar facility for Closomat’s Asana wall-hung unit, billed as the ultimate shower toilet on the market.

Simply by clicking on the various accessories available, specifiers and clients can see what their new Palma Vita toilet will look like, and thus how each option would benefit them. The tool also gives them a cumulative price.

CYCLE RIDE FOR HABITAT FOR HUMANITY @CelconBlocks

H+H’s Director of Housing, Neil Thomas, is set to ride 1000 miles in aid of charity when he cycles from the tip of Scotland to the depths of Cornwall in May.

With the aim of fundraising £1 per mile, Neil will set out on May 19 to complete the famous John O’Groats to Land’s End cycle route for Habitat for Humanity.

The challenge is all part of a larger focus for Neil who in June will travel as part of a 12-member contingent of partners from H+H customer, Miller Homes, to Malawi to support Habitat for Humanity’s WaSH (water, sanitation and hygiene) programme.

Major housebuilder launches pilot scheme to address the needs of future generations @TaylorWimpey

Local MSP and Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Economy and Fair Work, Derek Mackay MSP has revealed two prototype homes at Taylor Wimpey’s Dargavel Village development at Bishopton. These aim to respond to customer feedback and gather information, changing the way one of the UK’s largest housebuilders hopes to build homes in the future.

As part of its research programme, titled Project 2020, the prototypes are part of a trial, aimed at addressing changing customer needs, including allowing individuals to adapt their homes to their requirements. The homes are also intended to demonstrate greater build efficiency and deliver substantial advances in reducing energy consumption, tackling climate change and addressing customer demands in this area.

Contributing to the growing sales of Russell Roof Tiles’ Bute tile, Sheldons Reach in Hampshire has become the latest housing development to benefit from this sustainable product.

The private housing development of 70 homes was recently completed in the countryside town of Hook, by housebuilder, CALA Homes.  CALA Homes and roofing specialists, R&A Roofing worked together to achieve a high standard throughout the scheme. Each of the two, three, four and five bedroom semi-detached and detached, traditional family homes incorporated a high-quality finish, innovative design and excellent workmanship.

To ensure a sustainable roofing solution, R&A Roofing specified Bute from Russell Roof Tiles for the first time. Taking into consideration all the necessary project requirements, the manufacturer worked with the team to specify and supply tiles in Cottage Red and Peat Brown which also provided a significant cost-saving.

New partnership formed to deliver Queensway regeneration @Swanhousing @SouthendBC

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and Swan Housing Association have signed contracts and formed a joint venture partnership that will work to deliver the regeneration of the Queensway estate.

This follows full council approval of Swan Housing Association as preferred bidder in February 2019 following a 10 month procurement process that started in March 2018.

The joint venture partnership, called Porters Place Southend LLP has now been formed and will work on creating a full masterplan prepared for the site. This will involve further consultation with residents, local businesses and other key stakeholders and the LLP’s ambition is to submit its masterplan for planning approval in 2020. Southend-on-Sea Borough Council will be writing to residents to confirm this exciting news and to let them know what to expect for the next stages of this project.
