Tristone challenges students to stand out from the rest

Tristone has announced an exciting opportunity for students across the UK to design its stand at next year’s renowned KBB exhibition, held at the Birmingham NEC arena. The exhibition will play host to the country’s leading interior designers, retailers, contractors and architects – and Tristone are putting the fate of its stand into one student’s hands.

The solid surface company is approaching the design departments of Universities throughout the country, appealing to second and third year students to use the skills they’ve honed in their studies so far to submit designs for an exhibition stand. The winning proposal will be made for use at the KBB exhibition in March 2016, the industry’s leading event for kitchen, bathroom and bedroom design and manufacture. Over 400 leading UK and international suppliers will be in attendance, so the stakes are high for the winning entry, who will graduate with an industry standard project already filed in their portfolio.

The brief requires the designer to incorporate Tristone solid surfaces into the stand, and the flexibility of the material is sure to spark some creative design ideas. Tristone surfaces can be seamlessly joined using special colour match adhesives, and with the added advantage of thermoforming techniques it offers limitless design opportunities and integration for any setting. The possibilities are endless, and with a sleek and professional finish, the end result will give the winning student an invaluable project in a graduate portfolio guaranteed to stand out from the rest.

The KBB exhibition is set to be the industry event of the year, and with over 14,000 decision makers due to attend, being at the centre of the design of an imaginative stand has the potential to open many doors. Managing Director of Tristone, Howard Noh, is looking forward to seeing what ideas the students come up with.

“It’s certainly a bold move to relinquish artistic control of our stand at the KBB exhibition, but one I’m in no doubt will pay off. We’re really excited to be able to give students the opportunity to explore their talents in a professional capacity before they’ve graduated, which will ensure them a head start in their professional careers. The KBB exhibition is always going to be filled with the leading companies in the industry, many of which will specialise in design and interiors. This means we really need to stand out, which is why we’re looking to design students, who will be able to help us realise something that is different, innovative, and showcases our product in the best way”.

Entrants are required to submit up to four drawings displaying various perspectives of the stand, one floor plan and a short description of the entry. The winner will be judged on their creative display of Tristone product, smart use of resources, and awareness of project budget. Submission deadline is 7 December, the winner will be announced on 18 December.
