Design Haus Liberty won the lighting category of the prestigious International Product Design Awards with its Raindrop chandelier, “The Pour.” DH Liberty was originally commissioned to design this light sculpture for a site in Tribeca, New York City. The site featured exposed industrial columns on either end of a dropped beam within the living room and the light sculpture created a striking architectural relationship within the space.
This is the second award this month for DH Liberty as its Founder, Dara Huang, has been ranked by Property Week in its ’40 under 40′ list of up and coming property professionals who are considered the trail blazers of our generation in the property world. The award showcases young talent from across the property industry. The full list will be featured in a special feature within Property Week on Friday 9 October.
DH Liberty created the bespoke installation to play with illusions in a poetic way and the concept took its inspiration from natural rainfall. The team collaborated with glass blowers and metal fabricators to create an amazing display of hand-blown lights of all different sizes falling from the ceiling. The lights can be lit at different times to mimic raindrops on the floor.
Dara Huang, Founder, Desgn Haus Liberty comments:
“We are thrilled to have won an International Design Award for The Pour Installation. This piece was inspired by raindrops to create an interplay of light within the interior setting. We hope to continue to win awards for our innovative products and architectural design. ”
