Amante’s desire to use only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients in its dishes is just one of the reasons it has been voted Ibiza’s Best Beach Restaurant for three consecutive years. Now the island’s most beautiful rural restaurant and beach club has gone one step further to ensure it retains its position as the best of the best with the cultivation of an incredible organic garden.
It may be perched on a cliff overlooking the Sol d’en Serra bay, and surrounded by dramatic rocks, but it just so happens that Amante is also located in the midst of some of Ibiza’s most fertile farmland.
So it was at the end of last year that the Amante team decided to acquire some of the unused land adjacent to the property and there start Amante’s very own organic garden, a place where only the healthiest crops possible would be grown. Heading up the project is Ibiza native Guillermo Ferrer who has enjoyed more than 30 years’ experience in organic farming methods.
Together with his team Guillermo began transforming the 1,000 square metres of land that lay just a few minutes’ walk from Amante.
Avoiding all pesticides and chemicals, and making full use of Ibiza’s unique fertile soil, Guillermo has created a verdant paradise that is now home to over 40 different varieties of fruit, vegetables and herbs – from watermelons and aubergines through to basil – that can be transported directly from the garden to the kitchen and to the plate in just minutes.
Not only can diners at Amante take advantage of the freshest and most organic seasonal ingredients possible, they can also enjoy a very different setting in which to dine. The garden features a delightful picnic table, able to accommodate between two and six people, where guests can enjoy a unique al fresco experience.
Says Amante’s owner David Piccioni, “We are delighted to now offer customers the ultimate in locally sourced produce. The varieties grown in the garden have already exceeded our expectations and we are looking forward to adding more crops in the future. We are also sure that our new picnic offering will appeal to those looking for a complete rural idyll in which to enjoy our cuisine.”
