LIGHTWAVERF ANNOUNCES INTEGRATION WITH AMAZON ALEXA

Smart home technology company LightwaveRF has announced the integration of their product range with Amazon’s voice activated assistant, Alexa.

All of LightwaveRF’s connected devices can now be controlled by just speaking to them using voice control via Amazon Alexa. Users can continue to control lighting, heat, power and security conventionally through the LightwaveRF app.

“This makes control and monitoring even easier and even more intuitive,” said founder and chief technical officer John Shermer.

“It removes the step of even having to open the app. By simply saying the wake word ‘Alexa’ followed by the room and device that you want to command- for example, ‘Kitchen spotlights’- the system will respond by carrying out the instruction.”

Alexa is a feature on compatible Amazon devices such as ‘Echo’ or ‘Dot’ smart speakers to which users can issue commands to play music, provide information and news, and control any connected devices, whilst in close proximity or the same room.

Since the UK launch of Amazon Echo and Alexa in late September 2016, LightwaveRF has been working closely with Amazon to achieve voice control of the full LightwaveRF product range.

“This level of command and connectivity heralds the future of smart home tech. The ease that voice control brings further integrates connected devices, and management of the home becomes seamless,” said John.

The ability to communicate hands-free has the added benefit of making LightwaveRF more accessible to a wider audience. Amazon Echo continues to develop as more skills and features are added to the platform.

“We now have a powerful cloud platform that we can easily link with other major connected home and Internet of Things devices.  The combination of Alexa voice control and LightwaveRF massively improves the user experience for both Amazon Echo and LightwaveRF customers.”

With integration through IFTTT, Google Nest and now Amazon Echo, the investment made by LightwaveRF in the last year in its cloud platform is part of its drive to bring smart home technology to everyone, and the convenience of voice control through Amazon Echo puts this ever-developing platform at the forefront of smart living.
