Invalifts were recently approached by a Chartered Building Surveyor in Northampton who needed a solution to provide wheelchair access to a set of residential apartments in Hertfordshire. The site required access from the car park up a flight of nine stairs to the building entrance.
Invalifts visited the site for a survey and recommended their Inva Stair Riser platform lift to enable access. This lift was specified with a fully compliant 1250mm x 800mm fold down platform which would be suitable for wheelchairs. The unit had a lifting capacity of 300Kg in order to accommodate heavier wheelchairs.
Unfortunately, the steps that were already installed were made from wood, and there was no wall present to mount the lift to. Invalifts worked with the building surveyor who designed a steel framework, which provided a substantial structure for fixing of the lift’s stainless steel rails. The steel structure was colour matched to the lift and securely sunk into the earth. The unit was fitted in just one day.
The design of the lift minimises the risk of vandalism as the barrier arms fold down behind the platform taking up considerably less room than similar lifts from other companies. Wireless landing control buttons allow the call buttons to be flexibly positioned. The Inva Stair Riser comes with a 12 month parts and labour warranty and a further 2 year parts only warranty (excluding batteries).
