On Wednesday 26 May 2021 the presentation of the 2021 Royal Gold Medal to Sir David Adjaye OBE will be streamed live from Accra, Ghana and London, UK.

The public ticketed event will begin with the presentation of the Royal Gold Medal to Sir David Adjaye, followed by an interview, chaired by Lucy Tilley, Associate Principal at Adjaye Associates. The event will end with an audience Q&A.

Presented in recognition of a lifetime’s work, the Royal Gold Medal is approved personally by Her Majesty The Queen and is given to a person or group of people who have had a significant influence ‘either directly or indirectly on the advancement of architecture’.

Running order:

  • 5pm: Welcome
  • 15pm: Royal Gold Medal presentation
  • 30pm: In Conversation with Sir David Adjaye
  • Filmed congratulations from leading figures
  • 6pm: Q&A – attendees can submit their questions during the event
  • 30pm: Event closes
