Surface Design Awards announce its 2022 judging panel #SDS22 #SDAwards @surfacethinking

Nicola Osborn, Creative Director of multi-disciplinary design studio Basha-Franklin and Joseph Henry, Principal Project Officer in the Greater London Authority Regeneration Team have been appointed as Co-Chairs for the highly respected Surface Design Awards 2022.

Osborn and Henry are joined by a multi-disciplinary team of fellow judges selected from the architecture, design and property communities.

The Co-Chairs invite their own team of design industry colleagues to join them on the judging panel.

Nicola Osborn has invited Rosie Haslem from Streetsense, Giles Miller of Giles Miller Studio, Alex Morgan from Morgan Capital and Argent’s Sam Williams

“This will be my second year of Co-Chairing the Awards and I am delighted to have brought together such a strong team of judges,” said Nikki Osborn. “With a focus on sustainability as a team we will bring together design and property expertise with a 360-degree view of all the entries.”

Joseph Henry has recruited a similarly strong team to work with him: Rosie Gibbs-Stevenson from The Architecture Foundation, Jonathan Hagos of Freehaus and Sumitra Upham of the Design Museum make up his representatives.

“I really enjoyed my experience of judging the 2021 Awards,” said Joseph Henry. “Recognising excellence in surface design is important and I hope that innovative and sustainable projects from around the world will enter the 2022 Surface Design Awards.”

Once again emphasis will be placed on the different surface materials used in the entries and on their sustainability credentials with each entry being accompanied by a statement and calculation for the carbon footprint kgCO2/m2 of the cladding/material surface.

London’s Business Design Centre will be Sponsoring the 2022 Supreme Award – the project selected by the judges as being ‘the winner amongst winners.’

“The Awards Presentation is taking place at the Business Design Centre on Thursday 10 February next year and we are delighted once again to be Sponsor of the Supreme Award,” said Max Bull, Executive Director of Venue Sales at the BDC. “The BDC is home to many design-led businesses and we are keen to support the sector.”
