Axel Schoenert architectes was commissioned by Paris Inn Group to refurbish the Paris-Gare de l’Est Hotel, an area of 9,000 sq m. The modernized four-star hotel will open in Paris this July 2015 with 206 bedrooms.
Zsofia Varnagy & Axel Schoenert have redesigned the entire hotel, from the architectural reconfiguration of the spaces to the interior design, putting their mark on even the smallest details. Made especially for the hotel by the duo of designers, the furniture line is in harmony with the architectural concept, which embodies spring’s energy brightness and provides a pure wellbeing moment in the heart of Paris. In Paris’ 10th district, opposite the Gare de l’Est and two steps away from the Gare du Nord, the hotel is enviably located in a fast up-and-coming neighbourhood, at the crossroads of Europe.

Axel Schoenert founded the franco-german agency Axel Schoenert architectes with the support of his wife Zsofia Varnagy, in 1999 in Paris, and developed its activities in architecture, interior and furniture design. With an expertise in new built construction as well as complex refurbishment, the strongly multicultural team works in France and worldwide on offices, hotels, restaurants, spas, housing, public and cultural buildings.
In March 2015, his restructuration of Puteaux City Hall in France has won the ArchiDesignClub Awards 2015 in the category Interior / Public & tertiary.
