A renovation of a large bungalow in Lincolnshire has included the installation of pocket sliding door systems to maximize available living space. The pocket door solution meant that plans to create an additional bedroom and bathroom space in the converted loft could go ahead. The conversion was carried out by Clough Construction Services and features Invoke Pocket Door Gear supplied by Toolfix.
There were several areas in the bungalow where limited space needed to be maximised, in particular the bedroom, ensuite bathroom, cloak room and boot room. It was felt that inward opening doors would diminish the feeling of space.
Traditional doors take up a lot of space so, to maximise those areas, five pocket sliding door systems were specified. Installing pocket sliding door systems has increased useable space in the conversion by almost 10 per cent.
Pocket door systems comprise a counter frame that is integrated into a stud wall to create a pocket for the door. The Invoke Pocket Door Gear counter frame is made up of reinforced aluminium beam sections and vertical profiles that simply ‘click’ together for easy installation which is carried out in-situ. The door is then able to slide away into the cavity pocket, hidden from view, creating space that would otherwise have been lost if a conventionally hung door had been fitted.
